AITAC, a member of the OCX consortium, builds solutions to allow OCX data to be used in IT systems that do not yet support this standard. Check out this quick demo to see how OCX data version 2.8.6 is imported into 3DExperience; we are currently working on implementing OCX 3.0.0; stay tuned to see how we established the second importer to 3DExperience that complies with OCX schema 3.0.0.

Let us share some facts on the OCX story with those of you who have joined us thus far.

Open Class 3D Exchange Format, or OCX for short, is a new standard that was developed just four years ago in the APPROVE research project led by the classification society DNV and involving prominent providers specifically for shipbuilding. The project team then brought the standard into the newly formed OCX consortium with the goal of developing it as quickly as possible while simultaneously gathering a great deal of input from the industry. To that end, the consortium established an OCX implementor forum where the participating software providers could test their interfaces.

Now that many classification societies have joined the consortium, the expectation is that a single method based on a common standard will facilitate the implementation of drawing-free procedures; shipyards, classification societies, and software providers are beginning to find great popularity with the new standard.
